Our History

WELCOME to Bouvier Racing and trainer Jerome Bouvier.

Our family has been involved in Harness Racing for three generations, beginning with Pierre Bouvier, then his son Marcel Bouvier, and on to Marcel’s five sons. All five sons were involved from their early teens to mid thirties and beyond.

Marcel was involved early on with Assinaboia Downs in Winnipeg as a starter and then a horse owner and trainer. In the mid 70’s, Marcel made the decision to move horses and family to Cloverdale British Columbia when the track Fraser Downs opened in 1976. Marcel and his sons trained and drove horses for many years. Marcel and his sons also built a training and breeding business that poroduced some of the top racehorses.

In the early 80’s, Marcel travelled south to California where he trained and raced for many years. Racing at Los Alamitos, Hollywood Park, Bay Meadows, Cal Expo, and Del Mar. In the late 80’s. Marcel took on a new challenge shipping to the east coast where he raced at Deleware, Garden State and the Meadowlands. Further, Marcel then travelled back to Canada where he layed roots in Quebec where he built a training centre and raced throughout the east. All of his 5 sons were actively involved in training and driving to various degrees.

From the late 90’s to present, there has been three sons involved in harness racing to varied degrees. Currently, there is one son still involved, Jerome Bouvier. Jerome is based in British Columbia and is currently training a stable of 5 horses. What is unique about Jerome is, he is the only wheelchair bound trainer in Canada that is actively involved “hands on” with his stable.
